Stefanie Weemüller is from a family with a long tradition in winemaking. In the living room several portraits of her ancestors are on the wall. Her first own made vintage comes out in 1984. Over the years she has seen many changes, both in the wine making methods in the demands of the customer. She tells us that in Germany sweet wine is not the standard anymore, she does not like that image. Weegmüller is mostly producing dry wines and only 10% dessert wines (which is sweet, but of an other level of course). The wines are to be proud of and of an excellent quality.Emancipation in the wineStefanie is one of the first female German winemakers and proud of it. In many wine books you will find an interview with her. Over years she had to prove herself as a woman again and again. With a consistent quality she has won her place in this world dominated by men. Her wines are like children to her. Every barrel is different with its own flavor and character. The fact she sees her wines as children is evident by all the rubber duckies, inflatable aircrafts and other toys that are present all over the cellar. ‘Wine is fun and funny ducks are a part of that, there should be a smile on your face.’ToursTours in the vineyard and cellar are at request, including tasting of course.
