Luise von Racknitz  in Odernheim receive us and guides us through the ruins of a large medieval monastery. Hildegard van Bingen spent here forty years of her life. Hildegard is the first representative of the German medieval mysticism. She has been active in the fields of religion, cosmology, science, philosophy, music composition, poetry, botany and linguistics. An interesting story, but eventually we come to have some wines. Scientists found five Orleans vines of 500-600 years old!

The present is equally interesting. Luise has acquired the Weingut from her parents together with her husband in 2003, and tells a gripping and open story about her family history. At the beginning of the acquisition they were only with the two of them, with hard labor they kept their heads above the water. By now it is getting better and they are well known for their spontaneously fermented wines. Von Racknitz likes to keep everything in control, she even cleans all the tanks with a special lamp to see if there are no dirt in it. This perfectionist attitude eventually paid off and does not only give excellent wines but also prices for the wines.
