In Edesheim (Pfalz) along the busy provincial highway you can find the bar of Weingut Anselmann. If you did not know  a famous winery established here you would pass by without noticing. At the bar it is always a relaxed atmosphere. People who are tasting their wines and the locals who exchange the latest gossip with the joy of a large glass Weinschorle.

More than 100 different wines
Anselmann is a large family company and known internationally. They are commercially strong and have a large assortment white, red, sekt and sweet of more than 100 different winesm ofa large number of grape types.They have more than 50 hectares with different kind of grapes. Besides they process grapes of third parties. Almost all the available grapes of Germany are planted by  Anselmanns. Despites of the large variety of grapes the quality of their wines is generally well. They win a great number of prices year round. Until now I have bought only red wines. The sweet wines and the different sekts, which they produce, caught my attention after reading some reviews.

Acolon grape
Anselmann have been exclaimed by the DLG to be the best wine company of the year 2010. One of the novelties, is wine made of the Acolon grape. The Acolon is a crossing between the Dornfelder and the Lemberger. The variety has been grown at institute Weinsberg in Baden. The Acolon grape is not frequently planted, because it is sensitive to  deceases. Profits decreases if these deceases hit the vineyards. The wine has a deep red colour, because the peel contain a lot of dyes and contain gentle tannins. The Acolon 2006 of Anselmann a velvet easy wine, has been rewarded with several golden and silver medals, deliciously at for example beefsteak with sauce of berries. Other delicious wines are the Merlot trocken, Frühburgunder trocken barrique and Cabernet Franc trocken barrique.
