On March 15 2011 we had an extensive tasting at this winery in Blenheim (northern part of the South Island of New Zealand.) Although all the wines I tasted were of good quality, some of them were really outstanding:- 2008 Envoy Riesling. A Riesling with high acidity, but the residual sugars (partly because of oak fermentation) create a good complexity.- 2009 Spy Valley Pinot Gris. Part of the wine is fermented in oak and again a part of the wine has undergone malolactic fermentation. A full and fairly complex wine.- Envoy Chardonnay 2007 This wine has undergone barrel aging and has been aging on its own yeast cells (for 18 months). Despite the malolactic fermentation, acid is very apparent. Very delicious Chardonnay.
