Sensational! The fabulous view, the eternal sound of the waves of the Pacific, smell the salt air deeply into your lungs ... and taste the delicious wine!Going south, not far below Blennheim in Marlbourough, (the wine region of New Zealand) and just four kilometers beneath the cool surf town of Kaikoura, situated on the high sandstone cliffs you’ll find: Kaikoura Winery. For a delicious and affordable lunch in a grandiose setting, you do not even have to detour. While enjoying food and drink you have chance to spot dolphins in the South Bay, overlooking the azure waves of the Pacific Ocean. Kaikoura Winery is a relatively small winery that buys crops from other vineyards and blends them with their own harvest. We had a very friendly and professional welcome. We also stayed for lunch and sat outside in the sun on their terrace. Both the salmon and the Boeuf Bourguignon tasted delicious and was a good choice. And off course we tasted a dry Sauvignon Blanc, perfect temperature and with a very tasty finish. Really very good.Afterwards the manager of Kaikoura Winery's, gave us a short but private tour. They do not export wine, but sell only on the local market.Daily tours of the vineyard and a visit to the underground basement and party room from 10.00 to 17.30. So if you want to make an excellent stop on the way to Christchurch, then this is the place to be!
