After our visit to Mercier, we crossed the ´Avenue de Champagne´ to have a completely different experience at Comtesse Lafond. Here we get personal attention, a wine tasting in the shadow on the enormous estate of the lovely Chateau.A few years ago we had a personal guided tour through the castle and the wine cellars underneath. Very special, but this time we did not feel the urge to have another guided tour after our Mercier experience. Our toddler could run around on the grass, while his mother took a sip of one lovely Champagne after the other. The glass was filled completely each time, so luckily I was not the designated driver.Again I tasted the Champagne Comtesse Lafond Brut, which has a beautiful honeylike aroma, pleasant sparkling and the new ´Blanc de blancs´ which has a lighter honey tone, a fresher taste and a sparkling of soft little bubbles like the ´brut´. This is what I love... The millesime 1998 is still lovely in taste, but it seems to have lost the extra magic of a few years ago. But it´s still a very nice Champagne, even after 12 years. This review comes from the Smaakboutique blog.
