When we enter the driveway, it is obvious this is a place where a lot of effort is put in. The barrels are rolling inside and it is a hive of activity. When we enter a large guy directs us straight back out again to prevent the next barrel from crushing us like a grape. We arrive in an old castleroom which probably would have looked very similar abiout 500 years ago, inclusive of swords and armor. It appears that the extremely friendly lady is married to a Dutchman. This turns out to be an immediate icebreaker. She proudly tells of her family who have ruled the castle for five generations (1862). It is actually very welcoming. However, we came here - at least in part- for the wines which we enjoyed whilst chitchatting about the French school system, the heat and fortunately also about wine. All wines are 100% Chardonnay and truly fantastic. They do produce a couple of good red wines as well, but we leave with mainly a new supply of whites. Opening hours Monday to Friday from 10.00 to 12.00 and from 14.00 to 16.00. During the weekend by appointment only.
