The family house Martel is situated in one of the oldest spots of Reims.  With the production of ten million bottles you cannot say that this is one of the smaller production houses. The vintages and the modern production halls lay in Epernay, but here in Reims you go, after an introduction video, visit the cellars in where a long time ago the limestone was digged for the houses and monuments. Next, a guided tour into the ghostly cellars with wine attributes from a long time ago. There is even a part where people hid for the bombardments during the first world war. Beside the names and years and, something that appears to be like an instrument of torture, there seems to be even blood on the walls. Our guide had no idea of whom, but after all this atrocious we were longing for a drink. In pleasant spaces arrived, we eventually get a glass of Champagne from a most charming bottle. Martel conducts as much as thirty types and brands of Champagne and see, all originating from family members of the house. A visit is certainly the effort and much nicer then at the established names. Here you are still conducted in small groups into interesting cellars.
