Austrian wine country

The vineyards of Austria are to the east since the high Alps in the west are not suitable for viticulture. The summers are pretty hot and the winters cold. The country produces about 2.5 million liters per year. Austria has the strictest and most comprehensive wine legislation in Europe which are comparable to the German rules.
